Pe una din listele de email de la Institute of Politics cineva s-a trezit sa puna un mesaj despre un workshop despre sexualitate. Unde eram obişnuiţi să vedem mesaje despre diverşi senatori şi demnitari care vin şi vorbesc sau ţin seminarii, acum aflăm despre FemSex. Dar FemSex nu e orice workshop de sexualitate, ci unul care a generat în 24 de ore de la mesajul iniţial preţ de vreo 50 de răspunsuri, iar furtuna s-a liniştit abia ieri după ce, spre marea mea surpriză, totul s-a transformat într-o discuţie despre rolul femeilor aşa cum reiese din Republica lui Platon. Evident însă, concluziile despre clasa gardienilor nu au lămurit însă publicul dacă e potrivit sau nu să ne înscriem la cursuri despre orgasm, sadomasochism şi pornografie. Important e însă că au tăcut.
Iată deci despre ce e vorba. Subliniez în ultimul alineat self-love şi suspension of judgement şi mă întreb cine, după ce îşi exprimă susţinerea ideea într-o asemenea discuţie de grup, ar chiar merge la un asemenea curs.

Female Sexuality (FemSex) is a class that started at UC Berkeley, spread
to Brown University, and is in its third semester at Harvard. It is a
not-for-credit, semester-long, student-moderated workshop that provides a safe
environment for women (including those who currently identify as women, have
identified as women, or may identify as women in the future) to learn
about their bodies and explore the impact of sexuality on their identity.


The course topics include: anatomy and physiology, race/ethnicity and
sexuality, orgasms, masturbation, communication and partner sex,
fantasies, sexual diversity, pornography and erotica, BDSM, body image,
eating disorders, women's health issues, safer sex, violence against
women, community building and whatever else YOU bring to the table.


Set in the context of self-love, exploration and the spectrum of cultural,
ethnic, racial, and sexual identities, the objective of women's
empowerment will be achieved through analytical readings, assignments,
guest speakers, field trips and confidential class discussions. This class
requires dedication, openness, willingness to communicate, suspension of
judgment, and BRAVERY.
